The owners of SPAR Titanic Quarter have completed a £680,000 investment in larger premises, catering for the rising numbers of residents, businesses and tourists to the area.

The store will remain in the Arc Retail units below the Arc Apartment Homes in the heart of Titanic Quarter. The store owners, Andy Davis and Graham Johnston, say they are moving just four units up to a larger space that will allow them to provide better services to the residents, workers and tourists in the area.

Andy commented; “Prior to joining the Henderson Group and rebranding as a SPAR store, we had been providing an essential service for residents, workers and tourists in the area for four years, so we were confident that our new services, such as Barista Bar coffee and a sandwich lunch offering would prove popular.”

“We have experienced a huge amount of growth in the past year and the bigger unit will allow us to provide more lunch options, with a new burger, salad and pizza bar and we’ll also have an off license on site.

“Our fresh food offering will also grow considerably, allowing shoppers to choose between a wide range of local food suppliers and brands for their dinner on the way home from work.”

Titanic Quarter is one of Europe’s largest urban-waterfront regeneration projects. During a decade of development Titanic Quarter has evolved into a world class tourism destination, an educational and media campus, a residential community, a location for high quality Grade A offices and premium retail outlets.

Titanic Belfast has recently been named the World’s Leading Visitor Attraction, and the Titanic Hotel Belfast recently opened with fanfare, allowing a greater number of tourists to visit and stay in the area, experiencing the heritage and legacy of Harland & Wolff and the shipyards.

James Eyre, Commercial Director of Titanic Quarter, said; “We are delighted to see Andy and Graham investing a further £680,000 in their new SPAR flagship convenience store located in the ARC retail in the heart of Titanic Quarter. The larger store will enhance the convenience, food and beverage offerings available to the 18,000 people who live, work and play in Titanic Quarter daily.”

Kevin Hammett from Henderson Group, owners of the SPAR brand and franchise in Northern Ireland added; “We were delighted to welcome Andy and Graham in to the SPAR family earlier this year, and they are providing a fitting example of how our stores can adapt to deliver essential services to their local community.”

SPAR Titanic Quarter is now open in Unit 1, Arc Retail complex, Titanic Quarter, directly behind the Premier Inn hotel.
