The Northern Ireland economy is growing and as we look to the future, we believe that Titanic Quarter is going to have a huge role to play in the further development of Belfast as a city and the region as a whole.

Much has been achieved in the past decade at Titanic Quarter - one of the largest waterfront regeneration developments in Europe, comprising 185 acres of mixed-use development in central Belfast.

More than £425m of investment has been completed to date in projects that have supported between 500 and 800 construction jobs every year and almost 6,000 people are now permanently employed in Titanic Quarter, that’s a huge contribution in terms of employment value.

Located in the centre of our thriving urban community is Titanic Quarter’s Abercorn Residential Complex of 474 apartment homes with 1,000 residents.

What’s important about Titanic Quarter is that it is a mixed-use development, and our plans for the next phase of growth include new offices, homes, further development of our film and media facilities, new leisure developments and enhanced tourist attractions.

Some 18,000 people live, work and play in Titanic Quarter every day and we have one million visitors every year.

Titanic Belfast has proved to be an economic driver, providing jobs and prosperity.  Over the first 3 years Titanic Belfast generated £105 million in additional out of state tourism spend for the Northern Ireland economy, sustaining c.900 jobs each year in the wider economy[1].  Since 2012 the now iconic landmark Titanic Belfast has attracted over 3.5 million visitors from across 145 countries, earning it the prestigious accolade of World’s Leading Tourist Attraction 2016 – World Travel Awards.

Providing an additional boost to Belfast’s tourism offer is the Titanic Hotel Belfast and visitor attraction, a 120-bed, luxury boutique hotel in the former Harland & Wolff headquarters building and Drawing Offices, is due to open summer 2017. Three further hotels are planned for Titanic Quarter further strengthening Belfast’s business, conferencing, leisure and heritage tourism growth. 

Many, of course, are also coming to Northern Ireland to see where one of the world’s most successful television shows is made. Game of Thrones, which is filmed and produced by HBO in Titanic Studios, has established Northern Ireland as a world-class location for film and TV production. The series alone has contributed an estimated £148m to the Northern Ireland economy and other series filmed at Titanic Studios, including The Fall and Line of Duty, have provided a further economic boost.

Added to the glitz and glamour of the film industry, Titanic Quarter has further plans to build new offices and to provide homes for the many global companies and growing local employers who choose to base themselves here. Over 100 local, national and international organisations including Citi, Microsoft, IBM, SAP, HBO, Belfast Metropolitan College, Catalyst Inc, Ulster University and Queen’s University Belfast are already established in Titanic Quarter.

Titanic Quarter offers a location that has sufficient space and advanced IT infrastructure to maximise productivity benefits for highly competitive, high value added business sectors such as financial services, which bring salaries well above the Northern Ireland average.
